My season pass to the hospital better expire soon!

Okay so yet another ER story! My week started out with Teagan getting sick again!! I know it seems like she is never better or if she is Kota is sick. I do was watching two other children in my home and if my kids were healthy hers were sick and vice versa. needless to say we decided it was better for her to find another sitter. So back to the story... by Tuesday she was really not feeling good and I could tell her throat was bothering her again so I took her to the doctor in which they just said she h as a virus and there is nothing they can do just keep giving her Tylenol and Motrin. Ryan and I were not satisfied and seemed like she was worse by Tuesday night so we took her to ER and yes she was dehydrated again and they pumped her full of fluids. They also gave her some antibiotic in her IV just in case her strep test was a false negative. They then sent us home. She still was not feeling any better the next day, she would not let me put her down at all! so I had to watch the three kids I sit and my two with her on my hip all day long. My arm felt as if it was going to break off by 4pm Wednesday. But i stuck it out and did it by 10pm Teagan and I were asleep on the sofa since that is the only way she was able to sleep on my chest at an incline. so I literally have to sleep sitting up for her to sleep. Anyways Ryan gets a call on his phone and mine it was the ER Dr from last night saying her blood culture came back with bacteria in it so she needs to be admitted for infection in her blood we need to come in asap. FREAKED us out we got Kota up called the parents to meet us at hospital to get Kota for the night.
When we got there they could not get her Iv in they kept getting a vein but would hit a valve and could not push through. They stuck her 6 times before they got it in good enough. I was a crying mess and poor Ryan had to hold her down I could not stay in the room this time without wanting to kill someone and then throw up! After they got more blood  they put her on fluids gave her more antibiotics, I then told Ryan he needed to go home and get some rest he had work in the morning and I would be fine with her. She was sleeping and sick so she needed just to rest. They got us up to our room at 4am. When I walked in I was so disturbed the crib if you call it that looked like a cage for an animal and I had a chair that conveniently  foldeed out to a not so comfy bed for me. I was carrying her and trying to pull out my chair/bed pushing around her Iv stand and trying to figure how to work the crib/cage. No the nurse did not help you would think she would seeing my crying eyes as red as could be stressed out but no she was a brat!!! I finally got settled and got her back to sleep. I then tried to put er in the crib but the metle thing was so loud every time I would try to put the gate up it would bang lock down. She then would wake up and I would have to start from square one. That happened 3 times until I got her in and got her to stay asleep even after the loud banging crap. That was night one! I then found out next day we would be staying another night to wait and see what the new blood culture was growing.
Second day/ night not as bad she started to feel little better and I was getting the hang of the cage and was able to put her down. She was only sleeping 30-1 hour at this point and still having a lot of trouble eating. She had a virus called Herpangina again another form of hand foot and mouth. So sores in the mouth again she hates eating. So IV fluids still, antibiotic still and sleeping still when she would. They brought some toys in and by end of that day she was feeling good enough to play. The second night was not too bad at all she slept about 1.5-2 hours at a time and started to eat 2-3 ounces again. She would also go right back to sleep. So I felt better getting little sleep too. The next day being Friday now she felt fantastic and was up happy playing and sleeping her regular naps 1.5-2 hour 2x a day. She was eating 4 ounces now at a time and eating finger foods like green beans. The doctor finally came in about 12 and told me that the blood was contaminated and she did not have any infection in her blood and we can go home in about 30 min!!! I knew that was one of the alternatives they were thinking it could have been so it did not surprise me. However I did just stay 2.5 days in the hospital for iv fluids and not needed antibiotics, and a terrible sleepless time. That being said I'm glad we did go and stay because she was in the safest place she could have been being sick and not knowing if she had infection or not. We are home now and she is playing with all her toys which I disinfected my whole house!! and enjoying being home with Kota and mommy and daddy!! So we are all good and healthy as of right now! Lets hope with out having a lot of other kids here my family will stay this way!!!! Hope everyone had a great week and hope you all have a great weekend!!

  1. Wow, that seriously sounds awful. Lincoln got hand, foot and mouth once and it was awful! I'm so glad things are looking up, but what a terrible few days. It's hard seeing your kids sick isn't it? Take care. HUGS
